01What is Screenfolk?+
Screenfolk combines digital signage software with optional setup, monitoring, content help, and tailored screen-and-player solutions for small businesses and independent places.
02How can I turn a regular TV into digital signage?+
Connect a computer that runs a modern browser to the TV over HDMI, open the screen’s private Screenfolk player link, and publish a playlist from the Screenfolk dashboard. A supported Fire TV pilot device can also run the Screenfolk player.
03Do I need a smart TV or commercial display?+
No. A regular TV or monitor with HDMI works. The browser or compatible player device does the work, so the display itself does not need smart-TV software.
04Can I use a Fire TV Stick for digital signage?+
Screenfolk has a founding-pilot app for explicitly tested Android-based Fire OS devices, but it does not support every Fire TV model. The 2025 Fire TV Stick 4K Select uses Vega OS and cannot run the current Screenfolk Android app.
05Is Screenfolk free for one screen?+
Yes. Screenfolk Free is Network-supported and includes one browser-powered screen, up to 60 stored images, image playlists, remote publishing, offline-ready playback, and screen status with no credit card required. Clearly labeled Network ads may appear within the limits accepted at signup; upgrading removes them.
06Does digital signage keep playing without internet?+
After a complete sync, Screenfolk stores the current playlist and uploaded media locally so it can continue through a temporary connection outage. New updates, remote status, and online-only content still need internet access.
07Can I update the TV remotely?+
Yes. Add media, arrange reusable playlists, schedule them by day and time, and publish changes from the Screenfolk web dashboard without visiting the player device.
08What can I show on a Screenfolk display?+
Use finished JPG and PNG graphics for menus, specials, events, announcements, hours, pricing, and promotions. Video is available through paid activation, subject to current plan and playback limits.
